Prototype for The Devil

Illustration files prepped to be laser-cut
Files were prepped in Adobe Illustrator. The files had to be created in a way where I could conceptualize which areas would be peeled off and which areas would be sandblasted in order to make a contrast between the shiny copper finish and the sandblasted finish. Thus, exposing the illustration.
Ideation
To create these laser-cut illustrator files, I first used Procreate to sketch out concepts for each card. The cards I chose to draw were the Fool, Death, Temperance, the Devil, the Empress, the Hermit, the Lovers, the Magician, the Moon, the Star, the Sun, and the Tower. I wanted to draw out different experiences during the pandemic, such: as students, essential workers, medical workers, and the political issues during the pandemic.
Scrapped illustrations
When I was creating the illustrations for the laser-cutter, I had very limited knowledge of how it works. Because of this, I did not keep in mind how my illustrations would look when cut onto copper. Because my illustrations were too detailed I had to scrap these ideas and create a more simplistic way to showcase my illustrations.
